San Diego Unified School Board Takes Next Step to Bring School to Civita

The San Diego Unified School Board has approved the purchase and sale agreement for a public elementary school site in Civita, located at the intersection of Civita Boulevard and Via Alta. Construction of the school is projected for 2020 and is anticipated to take approximately two years to complete.
The planned neighborhood school is designed to serve 500 students from pre-kindergarten through grade 5. The enrollment boundary generally encompasses Mission Valley, including all residential areas of Civita.
The two-story neighborhood school is being designed with the latest Integrated 21st Century technology, offering an engaging and personalized learning environment designed to optimize teaching and learning through the interconnected use of mobile computing, audio, visual, and formative assessment technologies.
Highlights of the school include indoor and outdoor learning and gathering spaces, “Maker Space” to support STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) learning, sustainable components as teaching opportunities, gardens, integrated learning and play spaces, and flexible, light-filled classrooms.
Questions on the school should be directed to San Diego Unified School District.
